GROW TOGETHER IN COMMUNITY

We believe faith grows best in relationship. Small groups and gatherings help us follow Jesus together.

IN THE BOOK OF ACTS, we see the Church growing as believers gathered in the temple and met from house to house. We continue that same pattern today through discipleship communities.

WHAT IS A DISCIPLESHIP COMMUNITY?

A discipleship community is a small group of people who intentionally meet to grow in their faith together and follow Jesus in everyday life—not just learn about faith, but practice it.

At its core, a discipleship community focuses on:

  • Relationships – people who know each other, not just attend together

  • Spiritual growth – learning, prayer, and applying faith to real life

  • Accountability – encouraging one another to keep growing

  • Mission – serving others and living out faith beyond the group

Unlike a class or a one-time group, a discipleship community is about ongoing life together—sharing meals, conversations, struggles, and growth over time. At FCFC, discipleship communities include small groups, bands, and dinner churches.

WHY COMMUNITY MATTERS

GROWING IN FAITH

From the very beginning, the Church grew as the believers met together in their homes, devoting themselves to prayer, teaching, and fellowship. Through shared life, Scripture, and prayer, we are shaped to become more like Christ together.

BUILDING COMMUNITY

Coming to church every week isn’t enough, it’s hard to connect with people by only attending a weekend service. Being with people who love you and know you is a HUGE part of your spiritual growth.

SUPPORT & PRAYER

Discipleship Communities help us care for the whole church by creating smaller communities where needs are seen and prayers are shared.

“They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”

SMALL GROUP FAQS

WHAT IS A SMALL GROUP?

A small group is a gathering of people who meet regularly to grow in faith, build relationships, pray together, and support one another. Groups usually meet in homes, at the church, or online.

WHAT HAPPENS AT A SMALL GROUP MEETING?

Each group is a little different, but most meetings include conversation, prayer, and time to connect with one another. You don’t need to have all the answers—small groups are a place to grow together.

HOW LONG DO SMALL GROUP MEET?

Most groups meet once a week or every other week for about 60–90 minutes.

WHAT IF I DON'T KNOW ANYONE?

That’s completely okay—many people join without knowing anyone. Our small groups start fresh each semester, so there are always new faces. Group leaders are there to help make sure everyone feels comfortable and included.

DO I HAVE TO PRAY ALOUD OR TALK?

No. Participation is encouraged but never forced. You’re welcome to listen and engage at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

DO I NEED TO BE A CHURCH MEMBER TO JOIN?

No. Small groups are open to everyone, whether you’re new to church, exploring faith, or have been attending for years.

WHAT ABOUT A CHILDCARE?

Childcare options vary by group. Details are listed with each group, or you can contact us for help finding a group that fits your family.

HOW DO I JOIN A GROUP?

You can sign up through our website or contact us, and a group leader will reach out to you with next steps.

WHAT IF I JOIN A GROUP AND IT'S NOT A GOOD FIT?

We’re happy to help you find a different group. Our goal is to help you find a place where you can grow and feel connected. Small groups run on a semester schedule, with a natural start and finish, so there’s always a clear point to join or switch.
